I can’t share Ari Weinzweig’s newsletter with you direct, you’ll have to sign up for yourself.
But I can share snippets of it, that will hopefully inspire you to do so,
Starting with the title:
“Creating an organisation where everyone can be outstanding. Helping ourselves and those around us get to greatness”.
then this:
“We can create organizations where staffers, when they leave, are in a much better place than when they first arrived. Where they can slowly but surely figure out how to be themselves and find their way forward, creating their own personal “art.” What that art is, is up to them. While much of the world is merely going through the motions, these are people who are making a life of their own design. Lives in which money matters, but is not the main point.”
and this:
“How rewarding would our workplaces be if we all devoted our fullest energies to helping those we work with to develop their inherent ability and effectively express more of who they are? How amazing would it be if every company were to do that? Imagine a country built on this concept—committed to helping everyone not just get by, but, rather, achieve greatness of their own design.”
and this:
“The work of a manager is not to tell other people what to do, but to help them develop and utilize their own intelligence and energy in service to the larger goals and missions of the organization.” ~ Carol Sanford
and finally, this from Roadhouse supervisor Charles Cooper:
“Good afternoon, Roadies! Here is your shift vision for Sunday, September 15, 2024, Dinner: Twenty-one years ago today this ongoing collective venture of serving delicious food of the highest possible quality commenced. Unlike many restaurants that have come and gone, the Roadhouse endures because its guiding principles permit evolutionary growth. While our core mission has remained essentially the same, the ways in which we execute this mission have continuously transformed. Many faces and voices have passed through this building and each one has contributed to the vibrant, dynamic ecosystem of the ZCoB.“
A brilliant example of a how having an intentional process keeps a business true to it’s Promise while it and it’s people evolve and grow at the same time.
Discipline truly does make Daring possible.
