I realised this week that I’d forgotten a very important step in how to take a short break from your business, without breaking your business.
What to do when you get back.
First, let go of the processes you handed over before you left. Resist the temptation to take back control.
Instead:
- De-brief your team
- What went well?
- What needs improvement?
- How should we do that?
- Improve your processes
- Enjoy having time to work on your business
Then, when you’re ready, start getting ready for your next (maybe longer?) break.
